What do Ambassadors do?
You help to inform visitors about Martin County and the things visitors can do in the area. Through the training and manual you and your Ambassador colleagues help to ensure a consistent message for visitors and help them experience all the county has to offer. If you are willing and available, you also have opportunities to support local festivals and other events in collaboration with the Martin County Tourism Development Authority, but this is entirely optional.
Do I have to work in hospitality/ tourism?
No! You do not need to work in tourism or hospitality to participate. The program is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about Martin County, connect with the community, and help welcome and share the destination with visitors.
How much time does the program require?
To receive certification, you must attend:
-
- The required in-person training session on Saturday, January 9, 2027, from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM
- At least 2 training webinars and an additional in-person training between January and March 2027, which will be approximately 1–1.5 hours for webinars and 3-4 hours for the in-person training
Do I have to attend every session?
No. To become certified, you only need to complete the three required training sessions: the January 9 in-person training and two additional trainings of your choice.
However, we encourage Ambassadors to participate in as many training sessions and activities as possible to get the most out of the program!
Are there costs to participate?
Absolutely not! The Martin County Ambassador Program is free to participants. Training, educational content, the Ambassador workbook and materials, certification, and program merchandise are all provided at no cost.
We ask only for your time, enthusiasm, and passion for Martin County!
What will I learn during the program?
Ambassadors will learn more about Martin County’s tourism industry, attractions, businesses, events, history, culture, and experiences. Training will also cover practical skills such as hospitality, storytelling, making recommendations for visitors, visitor engagement, and promoting the community.
Additional topics and guest speakers may be included throughout the program.
If I apply, am I committing to participate?
No. Submitting an application does not commit you to participating in the full program.
We encourage you to apply if you’re interested, even if you’re still deciding whether the program is right for you. Once applications are reviewed, you’ll receive more information about the next steps.
