DESCRIPTION:All are invited to honor our veterans with Amvets Post 227 on Tuesday\, November 11th\, with a parade and ceremony. Please join the community in fellowship to commemorate\, honor\, and thank those who have served our country! \n\n\n\n\nAMVETS Post 227 is preparing to parade through town this Veteran’s Day. For the first time since July 4th\, 2010\, the Williamston AmVets Post 227 will be parading down Washington St to Main St and on to the Martin County Governmental Center to celebrate Veterans Day on Tuesday\, November 11th. The parade will begin organizing at E.J. Hayes Alumni Center at 7:30 AM. The parade begins at 8:30 AM. AMVETS Post 227 Secretary Wayne Bray is excited about the day’s events.\n\n\n\n“We’ve been getting a lot of calls from people planning on being in the parade. I figure we’ll have between 20 and 30 groups\,” said Bray.\n\n\n\nAnnually\, Post 227 holds a ceremony honoring the nation’s veterans\, and yearly\, the crowd gets larger. This year\, the post decided it was time to reintroduce a parade. The parade has been in the planning stages for some time\, and there is still availability for parade participants. Yearly\, town and county officials\, along with a large number of residents\, join together to honor those in uniform. While Veterans Day ceremonies are scheduled for Windsor\, Edenton\, and surrounding communities\, Williamston is the only town hosting a parade outside of Greenville.\n\n\n\nFor more information on parade participation\, call Bray at 252-301-4964.\n\n\n\n  \n
