Join the Martin County Historical Society and Martin Memorial Library for a special evening celebrating local history and the legacy of Southern education.
Meet author Timothy E. Miller as he shares the story behind his compelling work on Thomas Bog Slade — a Martin County native born near Williamston who was raised in a prominent family rooted in plantations, fisheries, and politics. The son of General Jeremiah Slade, Slade later moved to Georgia, where he played a significant role in advancing educational opportunities for women during the 19th century.
Discover how one man’s vision helped shape early female education in Georgia while uncovering a story that connects our local heritage to the broader Southern narrative.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $25 the night of the event, and guests will have the opportunity to meet the author and have their books personally signed.
We hope you’ll attend this meaningful celebration of history, scholarship, and community.
